Welcome darla to my topic, you have honoured me with your visit and comments. To be honest, I don’t think of people in this forum as family, but much, much more because you don’t get to pick your family, but you get to choose your friends and that in my opinion adds more value to being part of this forum.
You know what, I don’t find the hero being workaholic in those novels that upsetting, because you get to do what you get to do and life is tough, I can understand that it must be hard when you miss somebody but believe me you don’t want to have that someone stuck 24/7 on your throat! That can be really annoying! Besides it’s going to be healthy to the relationship to miss this special someone and I think it can be fun also! What I don’t get is when people marry their partner at work, I mean it would be nice to have a breather now and then!
I guess some people think otherwise.
I believe that workaholism is not exactly what authors are aiming for. It is just their subtle way to portray the hero’s success. And here comes another issue why does women find success such an aphrodisiac? You don’t get to hear guys fantasizing about women’s success do you?
And come on , don’t tell me all of women out there are smart enough that they would appreciate having challenging partners! SO IT’S THE MONEY ISSUE AGAIN! But this time it’s in disguise and not out in your face
