Ja Rule

Jeffery Atkins (born February 29, 1976 in Hollis, Queens), better known as Ja Rule (Jeffery Atkins Represents Unconditional Love Exists) is an American rapper with a thuggish image who made a string of popular hip hop songs in the 2000s. He is also an actor who played roles in several films during this same time period.

Early Career
Ja Rule fist appeared alongside 0-1 and Chris Black aka' Jody Mack as part of Cash Money Click (not to be confused with Cash Money Records) By 1998, he had signed to Def Jam Records, and his first major appearace was alongside Jay-Z on the song "Can I Get a...". In 1999, he released his solo debut, Venni Vetti Vicci, with the lead single being "Holla Holla".

Rule 3:36
In 2000 Ja Rule released Rule 3:36, his second album. The first single was "Between Me and You" featuring Christina Milian. The song was a cross over smash hit and was followed up by the even more successful "Put It On Me" featuring Lil Mo. They followed that song with "I Cry" also with Lil Mo.

[edit]
Pain Is Love
In the fall of 2001, after "I Cry" had run its course, Ja Rule released "Livin' It Up", the first single from his third album, Pain Is Love. The song, which featured guest vocals by R&B singer Case, went on to become another smash hit for the rapper thanks in part to its familiar sample of Stevie Wonder's "Do I Do". The follow up single and video, "Always On Time", was released in December of that same year and was even bigger than "Livin' It Up", becoming Ja Rule's biggest pop radio hit to that point. The song and video were also notable as they introduced the public to singer Ashanti, who was the featured singer on the single's chorus.

What's Going On
Just days before the tragedy of September 11th, around the same time that "Livin' It Up" was breaking big, the American supergroup lineup known as the "All Star Tribute" was recording a cover of Marvin Gaye's "What's Going On", in order to raise international AIDS awareness as well as money to combat the disease. It was to be released in December. After 9/11, however, the song was rush-released to radio and to MTV; its video having been hastily thrown together "home-movie" clips from the very recent studio recording of the song. The song went on to become associated with the terrorist attacks and the subsequent war in Afghanistan more so than with AIDS. However, in December, the song was re-released as planned, with several new versions/remixes of both the song and the video, in order to benefit AIDS charities as originally planned. Ja Rule had a significant part in the song. He, along with Nelly, Eve, and Fred Durst, added their own original rap lyrics about the disease to the song. Christina Aguilera, *NSYNC, Britney Spears, Destiny's Child, Jennifer Lopez, and Gaye's own daughter, Nona, among others, sang the original lyrics to Gaye's song

Jennifer Lopez

Jennifer Lynn López (born July 24, 1969) is a well-known American actress, Latin Pop singer, fashion designer, and dancer. She is married to singer Marc Anthony. She is also commonly known as J-Lo or J.Lo.

Lopez was born in the Bronx, New York to Puerto Rican parents Guadalupe Rodriguez and David Lopez. She has two sisters, Lynda and Leslie. Though Lopez's parents were born in the same Puerto Rican town, they did not meet until they both had moved to Castle Hill. They were strict with their girls and instilled a strong work ethic in them — no one in the family was allowed to miss a day of school, work, or church (the family was devoutly Roman Catholic). "Our parents had a strong work ethic — there wasn't really any other way," Lynda Lopez told Rolling Stone. Lopez's parents also stressed assimilation — the need to speak English, to fit into the mainstream, to succeed. Because her parents were strict, Lopez spent much of what she called "the boyfriend years" sneaking around to meet up with first-love David Cruz, whom she remained with from the time she was 16 until she was 25."I was always climbing out windows, jumping off roofs, and he was sneaking up," she said. "It was crazy." She spent her entire academic career in Catholic school and acknowledges that she still prays regularly. She was a driven student and natural athlete. She went out for the track team, though she had no experience. Her father feared that, new to the sport, she would be outclassed, but Lopez rose to the challenge and ended up competing nationally. "Basically, anything she wants to do, she'll be as successful as you can at it," sister Lynda Lopez told Rolling Stone. "That's the kind of person she is."

Jennifer Lopez financed singing and dancing lessons from the age of 16. After she dropped out of high school, Lopez pursued her talent for dance. She split her time between her job at a law office, taking dance classes, and dancing in Manhattan clubs at night. Though she did not, and still does not, drink alcohol, her parents disapproved of her working nights so far from home and feared she was associating with a dangerous crowd. She moved out of the house in protest of her controlling parents and was able to shack up with her dance teacher and literally lived on the floor of the dance studio for many years until she could pay rent with occasional work as a dancer. After month's and month's of auditioning for dance gig's, she got her first spot and started out in television as a video girl for rap artist MC Hammer, also a guest spot on the American Music Awards. Her first regular high profile gig was as a "fly girl" dancer on the television comedy program In Living Color in 1990 after being twice rejected . She then left the show after the second season due to friction with another dancer.

Lopez's stability during that time parlayed into the earliest successes of her career. She had a small role in a short-lived television program South Central. She also found television work in Second Chances and Hotel Malibu and the made-for-TV movie Nurses on the Line: The Crash of Flight 7. She danced for Janet Jackson on tour and in Jackson's video for the popular song "That's the Way Loves Goes" in 1995. Lopez broke onto the big screen in 1995, in the drama My Family/Mi Familia and opposite Wesley Snipes in the action film Money Train. She appeared in Francis Ford Coppola's 1996 comedy Jack, and the 1997 thriller Blood and Wine.

After a nationwide search of tens of thousands of women, Jennifer was chosen to play the lead role in the film Selena. In 1998, the Golden Globes organization nominated her for the "Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture Musical or Comedy" for her role in Selena.

Ricky Martin

Ricky Martin (born in San Juan, Puerto Rico on December 24, 1971 as Enrique Martin Morales), is a successful Puerto Rican pop singer who rose to fame, first as a member of the Latin boy band Menudo, then as a solo artist since 1990. He has sold over 70 million records since the start of his career. He is considered a major star in the world of Latin Pop, and is considered to have opened the doors for some of his fellow Latin American singers like Shakira or Thalía.

Ricky Martin's father, Enrique III, was a psychologist and his mother, Nereida Morales, a bookkeeper. His parents separated when he was two years old. He attended Sagrado Corazón School and was an average student. He participated in school extra-curricular activities and sang in the school choir, where he began to realize that his talent captivated the audiences. Through the encouragement of his father, he began to take voice lessons, and auditioned for television advertising spots.

Martin first achieved worldwide success with his selection to replace Ricky Melendez in the Latin boy band Menudo from 1984 until 1989. His meteoric ascent to fame started in Menudo's homebase, Caguas, site of his first concert. He signed with Sony in 1990.

After he left Menudo, he decided to continue his career. He moved to Mexico City where he started acting, first in theater in productions like Mamá ama el rock, and Los tenis Rojos with Angélica María and Angélica Vale. He starred in telenovelas such as Alcanzar una Estrella and performed in the music group Muñecos De Papel of that production. In 1994, he moved to Los Angeles, California. He received a role as bartender (Miguel Morez) in the American soap General Hospital.

Ricky established himself in Miami and connected with music creator Desmond Child, former Menudo band-mate Robi Draco Rosa and Puerto Rican agent Angelo Medina. With these 2 in tow, Ricky created hits like "María", "The Cup of Life", and "Livin' La Vida Loca". He sang "The Cup Of Life" during a World Cup broadcast that gave him worldwide exposure, but it was "Livin' La Vida Loca" which became a massive crossover hit, made him popular around the world and propelled him into the covers of Tiger Beat and many other major magazines worldwide.

One of Ricky's career high points was the recording of the Spanglish ballad "Cuidado Con Mi Ojete" ("Be Careful") with Madonna and William Orbit. The original version was written with Patrick Leonard and the first demo remains just one of many unreleased Madonna songs.

Ricky was chosen, along with Félix Trinidad in 1999, to lead Puerto Rico's worldwide tourism campaign, both exemplifying Puerto Rico's youthfulness, enthusiasm and "never give up" character. In 2003, Martin announced that he and his agent, Angelo Medina, had parted ways. In February of 2004, Martin received a Lifetime Achievement Award at the Premios Lo Nuestro in Miami.

Martin recently adopted three little girls from India. The Ricky Martin Foundation created a project called People For Children, which aims to eliminate the industry of sexual exploitation and trafficking of children worldwide. His first benefit was held in Mexico City on November 10, 2005.

On October 11, 2005 Martin came out with his first English language album since 2000's Sound Loaded and the tenth album of his career. Most of the songs on the album, called Life, were co-written by Martin. Martin feels that the album is one of his more personal albums, saying "I was really in touch with my emotions. I think this album is very multi-layered, just like life is. It's about feeling anger. It's about feeling joy. It's about feeling uncertainty. It's about cuping a feeling. It's about feeling. And all my emotions are part of this production." The album debuted at #6 on the Billboard Top 200 Albums chart. The first single of the album, "I Don't Care" (Spanish version: “Qué Más Da”), featuring Fat Joe and Amerie, was Ricky’s first single since 2003's “Tal Vez.” He plans to release his next single called Drop It On Me
