The Best Moments from ‘Supernatural’ Season 6
#25 The Possessed Impala Tries to Kill Dean
For years fans have been suggesting that the show do an episode where the Impala gets possessed, and here they finally got their wish as Dean’s baby tried to kill him.
#24 Shirtless Sam and the Prostitute
The first real sign that Sam was soulless came when we saw him with a prostitute, but with his awe-inspiring workout routine, maybe not having a soul isn’t so bad.
#23 Dean Names a New Species of Monster
When the gang discovered a new type of creature, Dean got to name it, and his goofy excitement over coming up with the name Jefferson Starships (“because they’re horrible and hard to kill") was silly and adorable.
#22 Azazel’s Return
Season 6 featured a lot of returning characters, but none was cooler than the brief return of the original bad guy, Azazel, in the season premiere, even if it was a hallucination.
#21 The Alpha Vampire Dream
Supernatural got weird and trippy with this dream that flashed into the minds of every vampire from the Alpha full of disturbing imagery and creepy little girls.
#20 Cas Becomes the New God
In the season finale, Cas absorbed the souls of everyone in Purgatory and became a powerful god. It may be bad for everyone else, but when he snapped his fingers to kill Raphael and was immune to the angel blade, it was pretty bad-ass.
#19 Cas Makes Out with Meg
The best relationship that never went anywhere was this brief hook-up when Cas, inspired by the pizza man from a porno he’d watched, laid a big, fat kiss on the demon Meg
#18 Lisa Lets Dean Go
I’ve always liked Lisa, and for me, her best moment came when she was 100 percent on board with Dean going off with his brother once Sam re-entered the picture. She knew what Dean really wanted better than he did and was the most understanding woman a guy could ask for.
#17 Vampire Dean Says Goodbye to Lisa
A painful and emotional goodbye, Dean was kind of funny and kind of sad when he told Lisa they couldn’t be together any more after he became a vampire.
#16 Dean Kills the Mother of All
It looked like the Mother of All was the big bad villain of season 6, until Dean used a clever trick of drinking the phoenix ash to kill her when she drank his blood. Her death was gruesome, but a great moment of triumph.
#15 Death Restores Sam’s Soul
It’s funny that Death, one of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, is kind of a nice guy, and when he restored Sam’s soul, his delightfully clipped British accent made it seem extremely ominous.
#14 A Day in the Life of Normal Dean
Season 6 didn’t open with a classic rock song montage of the road so far, but what we got was an entertaining look at Dean’s new life with Lisa intercut perfectly with memories of his old like, so we’d see him sprinkle salt on a doorway to keep demons out and then see him sprinkle salt on an omelet.
#13 The Bonanza Opening Title Sequence
Sometimes the show gets silly with its opening credits, and the western episode opened with a great homage to Bonanza as the map was set on fire and revealed the show’s title.
#12 The X-Files Opening Title Sequence
Another unique credit sequence, the X-Files homage was brilliant down to the last detail.
#11 Bobby Does Research
This moment makes the list because it highlighted Jensen Ackles as a director, showing the arduous research process for Bobby with a time lapse of the many dull hours he spends getting all the info the boys need.
#10 Rufus Turner’s Memorial Service
A sad moment for a fallen hero, the bittersweet funeral service for Bobby’s old pal was a perfect send-off for a great character.
#9 Sam Kills Himself
Sam’s mind went a little Highlander as he had to go around and kill himself to absorb his memories and become whole again. Seeing Sam shoot himself was strange but also kind of cool.
#8 Cas and Crowley Visit Hell
Crowley’s version of Hell was brilliantly wacky as its just people standing in a never-ending line.
#7 Soulless Sam Kills Innocent People
The show got deadly serious and revealed some very dark layers with this memorable moment when we learned that in his time without a soul, Sam was more than willing to kill innocent people
#6 Dean Says Goodbye to Lisa and Ben
I’m glad Sam mentioned the fact that changing their memories was kind of messed up, but I also loved Dean’s reaction, which was that he knew what he did was bad, but it was what’s best. His final farewell to the woman and surrogate son he loved so much was a perfect blend of sadness over losing them and happiness that they could have a normal life and it was the best acting Jensen Ackles has ever done.
#5 Misha Collins Gets Killed
When Sam and Dean went into the real world, Misha Collins was hysterical as himself, especially when he cried like a baby before he was killed.
#4 Eric Kripke, Bob Singer and More Get Killed
I’ll admit that I loved “The French Mistake" and could easily have this entire list made up of moments from it. But the end where Kripke got gunned down in a blaze of glory was so wonderfully over-the-top that it made the death of the show’s creator an incredibly funny moment.
#3 Dean Fights a Fairy
Jensen’s physical comedy was in full display here as he went toe-to-toe with a tiny, glowing fairy and got his butt kicked.
#2 Dean vs. the Sword in the Stone
Fighting a fairy was good, but Dean’s hilarious struggle with the sword in the stone as the world’s most heroic music played in the background filled me with giggles for a very long time.
#1 Sam and Dean “Act”
The entire meta episode “The French Mistake" was brilliant, but the absolute best moment came when Dean and Sam had to pretend to be Jensen and Jared and “act." Their bad acting was so good and created the funniest moment of the season.
