The Best Moments of 'Supernatural' Season 5: The First 10 Episodes
It’s going to take some time before Supernatural returns to our TV screens. To ease the excruciating wait, let’s look back at the most memorable moments from the first 10 episodes of Supernatural’s fifth season (in no particular order).
Demon Bobby
Episode 5.1 “Sympathy For The Devil"
While we learned a lot of things in “Sympathy For The Devil," the most memorable thing about the fifth season opener of Supernatural was black-eyed Bobby. Bobby may have coldly told Sam that he wants nothing to do with him once the hunt is over since Sam freed Lucifer but Bobby managed to battle the demon within him and stabbed himself instead of Dean. This heroic effort eventually got Bobby bound to the wheelchair for life.
Suffering Castiel
Episode 5.2 “Good God Y'All"
For BuddyTV reader hotpinkgirl, hearing Castiel rant to Dean about how he killed his angel brothers and how he lost everything for Dean--- for nothing showed just how much Castiel was suffering. It also showed just how noble Castiel is since he’d rather help the brothers than give up.
The Breakup
Episode 5.2 “Good God Y'All"
Splitting up Sam and Dean was truly a sad moment for all Supernatural fans. Sam needed to take a break from hunting and from Dean since he couldn’t trust himself anymore, while Dean couldn't focus on the job because he’s always worrying about Sam. Though it was a mutual decision, watching Sam decline Dean’s offer to take the Impala and hitching a ride out of town with a stranger was definitely heartbreaking.
Cas the Virgin
Episode 5.3 "Free to Be You and Me"
“When Dean takes Cas to the strip club, Cas' expression alone makes me laugh
Lucifer’s Vessel
Episode 5.3 "Free to Be You and Me"
It’s odd enough to know that Dean is supposed to be the vessel for the Archangel Michael but learning that Sam is supposed to be Lucifer’s meat suit is even more daunting.
Two Deans
Episode 5.4 "The End"
Two Deans are better than one
Sam in White
Episode 5.4 "The End"
This seems to be a popular choice among Supernatural fans. And BuddyTV reader PennyWhitlock3 got it right when she said, “seeing Sam as Lucifer was chilling."
The Reunion
Episode 5.4 "The End"
According to BuddyTV reader WinchestersBestfriend, “Dean and Sam’s reunion at the very same road beside the same bridge where the brothers said goodbye to John in ‘Salvation’ was truly beautiful and meaningful."
Sam Kills Paris Hilton
Episode 5.5 “Fallen Idol"
It was funny to hear Dean reference Jared Padalecki and Paris Hilton’s movie, House of Wax, saying he has never seen it, but it was more gratifying to see Sam kill “Paris Hilton" with an iron axe
Apologies
Episode 5.5 “Fallen Idol"
“Loved the scene at the end of ‘Fallen Idol’ where Dean apologizes to Sam and lets him drive the Impala. Then Beck's ‘Superstition’ blasts the speakers and we know that the boys are once again back at it – together."
Cas Says the Painful Truth
Episode 5.6 “I Believe The Children Are Our Future"
When Sam proposed to tell little boy Jesse the truth about his destiny to go dark side so he could make the right choice, Castiel reminded Sam that he was also warned about his fate but Sam still made the wrong decision. This appeared to be one of Castiel’s best hard-hitting speeches in the season, according to BuddyTV reader hotpinkgirl, who loves it “when Cas is angry because he says the truth even if it sounds harsh."
Old Dean vs. Old Bobby
Episode 5.7 “The Curious Case Of Dean Winchester"
Seeing old Dean and old Bobby argue was like watching Grumpy Old Men, according to Sam Winchester.
Opening Credits
Episode 5.8 “Changing Channels
Seeing Sam and Dean scooter racing, tandem biking and getting scared of a fake ghost in the closet was hilarious, entertaining and a *******ing break from all the heavy Apocalypse stuff.
CSI Parody
Episode 5.8 “Changing Channels"
“The CSI part was great. Sam did a great Horatio
Grey’s Anatomy Parody
Episode 5.8 “Changing Channels"
Aside from poking fun at Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s “ghost" character on Grey’s Anatomy, another thing that made this segment hilarious was seeing Dean realize that Dr. Sexy isn’t Dr. Sexy because he isn’t wearing his signature cowboy boots. Clearly, Dean is a fan of Dr. Sexy M.D.
Angel Gabriel
Episode 5.8 “Changing Channels
“The moment in ‘Changing Channels’ when Dean told Gabriel/The Trickster that he was afraid to stand up to his own family."
Learning from Fake Sam and Dean
Episode 5.9 “The Real Ghostbusters"
“Dean's smile at the end of 'The Real Ghostbusters' [was] one of the few moments of genuine Dean happiness because he was reminded that his life means something, that it has worth and purpose and love.
The Death of Ellen and Jo
Episode 5.10 “Abandon All Hope"
“In the bit where Ellen decides she's going to stay with Jo and the bomb, the way she smiles at Jo…that bit was heartbreaking. One of the saddest scenes in the entire show in my opinion.
The Colt
Episode 5.10 “Abandon All Hope"
Dean found the Colt and shot Lucifer but we learned that there are five beings the Colt can't kill---and Lucifer happens to be one of them.
The Hunters’ Photo
Episode 5.10 “Abandon All Hope"
“My ultimate favorite has to be Dean's face when [he was] watching the group picture burn [while] staring at Jo's face!"
