They Jury is out , and the verdict on " Whittney My Love " is here!!!
“ Love is hard work!!”
I think this story can be the story of the century; the heroine whittney is funny, clumsy and hilarious!! The hero fall hard in love with her from afar and as usual he has everything except the love of the one he most wanted.
I liked the story immensely in the beginning, Judith- the author - kept us in suspense, I couldn’t figure out who was the hero was it Paul, De Ville , or the Duke ? They all seemed handsome and eligible. They all seemed like jerks on the mend!!! But of course it was the duke, he was the richest and most powerful so I should have figured it out more quickly , but I kept hoping that would be Paul.
Well, I liked it when the hero was proud of his fiancée in the party that was so sweet and I liked him when he gave her time to adjust to him and forget about the other man. I don’t blame Whittney for carrying a torch for her childhood sweetheart; sometimes memories can be kinder than the reality as I quote from the story.
It is not always good to get what we want because sometimes we deserve better, this what the author was trying to get to us I think.
It was so funny when Whitteny did those stupid things thinking she was in love with Paul, but I guess love can make fools of the best of us!! It was so cute when at 16 she challenged Paul before leaving England and told him that he was going to propose to her!!
Even the quite patient hero did his fair share of stupid but not as sweet mistakes. There are three turns in events I didn’t quite like, first the scene with the whip what was that all about?? It is disgusting and how does her parent not beating her for her mistakes made it Okey? It’s degrading!! She is not a horse!! Secondly, the scene where he forced himself on her, so unromantic so uncool but the way the author rationalized the cause made sense out of it but I don’t get why does he have to be so cruel!!
Thirdly, the way he changed attitude after discovering the secretly hidden letter and this one I think mark the stupidity of the hero, I mean didn’t you learn something the last time you messed up with the heroine? If you were angry about something go and face it and check the facts, see what believing in lies and fictions got you the last time!!
I do believe there was some reality in this story. Guys tend to know better than us who they want to marry before even speaking to women. Women tend to have their hearts work overtime and be misled by some false emotions.
Good choice Reema , I like reading about corky characters, they are more fun!! Don’t miss this one girls if you like regency stories .
