Anne of the Island by L.M. Montgomery
(Anne of Green Gables, Book 3)
Lucy Maud Montgomeryand publicly known as L.M. Montgomery,was a Canadian author, best known for a series of novels beginning with Anne of Green Gables, published in 1908 .
Once published, Anne of Green Gables was an immediate success. The central character, Anne, an orphaned girl, made Montgomery famous in her lifetime and gave her an international following.[1] The first novel was followed by a series of sequels with Anne as the central character. The novels became the basis for the highly acclaimed 1985 CBC television miniseries, Anne of Green Gables and several other television movies and programs, including Road to Avonlea, which ran in Canada and the U.S. from 1990-1996.
This is the continuing story of Anne Shirley and the third book in the Anne of Green Gables series. As Anne’s childhood friends get married and move away, Anne too leaves Prince Edward Island to attend Redmond College where she is studying for her BA. She has many surprises along the way, including her first marriage proposal to the worst guy imaginable, the sale of her very first story and a tragedy that teaches her a painful life lesson . In Anne of the Island the reader is also introduced to many new characters. Though, she at first feels lonely Anne soon makes new friends, Priscilla Grant and Gilbert Blythe are some of her fellow students who attend Redmond College with her. But, one of whom is handsome Roy Gardner, whose attentions to Anne make Gilbert very jealous. What Anne doesn’t know is that Gilbert wants to win her heart , all of a sudden Anne must decide if she’s ready for love.~Submitted by Christine.
